On January 12, 2023, The �鶹���� (�鶹����) was re-designated by New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) as a Primary Stroke Center in the New York State Stroke Services Program.

Previously, �鶹���� received a NYS designation as a Primary Stroke Center in 2007. However, a new state law implemented in March 2018 required all hospitals with a NYS Stroke Center to reapply. This time around, institutions were required to receive a disease specific certification from a NYS-approved certifying organization.

�鶹���� engaged the well-regarded Joint Commission as our certifying agency, and we are pleased to say that we met Joint Commission’s rigorous standards from an onsite review on October 11, 2022, and have earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval^® for Primary Stroke Center. 

“A Primary Stroke Center certification recognizes health care organizations committed to fostering continuous improvement in patient safety and quality of care,” says Deborah Ryan, MS, RN, interim executive vice president, Accreditation and Certification Operations, The Joint Commission. “We commend The �鶹���� for using certification to reduce variation in its clinical processes and to strengthen its program structure and management framework for stroke patients.”

�鶹����, with its speed of treatment and cutting-edge treatment advances, will continue to participate in the state’s stroke system of care. The Stroke Center consistently earns The American Heart Association and American Stroke Association’s Get with The Guidelines® (GWTG) Heart Failure and Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Awards for its best medical practices for stroke and heart care. The Stroke Center team is on call 24/7, and offers thrombolytic therapy and state-of-the-art neuroimaging for all neurovascular emergencies, as well as follow-up care and rehabilitation.
